Broader impacts and outreach
Scientific outreach:
We have worked with the Calgary Wildlife Rehabilitation Society, Calgary Science Network, and WitmerLab at Ohio University, to bring zoology and paleontology to students of all ages and backgrounds.
Dr. Snively was an education volunteer with the Calgary Wildlife Rehabilitation Society for several years, with Oberon the great horned owl. The extraordinary staff at CWRS rescues, rehabilitates, and releases injured and orphaned wildlife, and educates the public of Southern Alberta. Visit, join, and donate. http://calgarywildlife.org
Life-sized dinosaurs
At UW-La Crosse, we worked with Girls in Sciences/Boys Exploration Camp to bring life-sized printouts of dinosaur fossils, and math behind body size and bite force, to diverse and wonderfully gifted middle-schoolers. Colleague Becca Werren and I engage the students with Argentinosaurus, T. rex, and Acrocanthosaurs, and even walk and measure the length of a Supersaurus.
